Sickness is a condition which necessitates medial attendance along with abstention from work. An employee suffering from any such sickness has to get the sickness or the incapacity certified from the ESI Institutions, normally from the ESIC Dispensaries through the Insurance Medical Officers. Some times the sick person directly seeks treatment in private hospitals and in such cases, immediately aftyer the treatment inpatient or out patient, the person has to approach the Dispensary and the Insurance Medical Officer will issue certificate for the sickness with a remark on the need for abstention for the back period also.
